The Terror of the Deep!
by Rhys
(Source- AnimalPlanet.com )

The giant squid is one of the biggest kinds of animal in the world, weighing 500 pounds and over 70 feet long!  The giant squid has 12 arms.  Two arms are longer then the rest and have tons of suckers.  Most giant squids have lights on their body to lure its pray in.

No one has ever seen a giant squid alive.  Giant squids only live in water that is 5000 feet deep.  Because they live so deep most animals can't hunt them but one animal can.  The sperm whale can dive down to 5700 feet to hunt the giant squid.  The sperm whale is 60 feet long.

The giant squid can change color in a split second. Pigments in its body make it change colors. When the giant squid is a baby it is 1 or 2 feet long and is white. When it grows up it can be 72 feet long.
